MELROSE AVE SEPT 25, 2015

a date on melrose avenue

Melrose on the other side of Fairfax, not a glamorous area, but there sure are some cute hole in the wall stores and restraunts that are worth a stroll down the street. A quick lunch time break from work, rendezvous with my guy.

We stopped in Crossroads, Wasteland, and check out all the talk rice ball shop Kawaba
located 7368 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036

After some ume and spicy tuna rice balls we walked around a bit. A really cute store across the street I would suggest checking out a store called Spitfire Girl. It has a ton of cute little girls and handmade home decorations.

Here are some images of my outfit from the date and also another spot across the screen from the Kawaba is this cute restaurant, I don't know the name of it but its got a great pair of wooden doors with a cute golden umbrella decorations on the window.

HANDMADE LIVING SEPT 28, 2015

HANDMADE LIVING

A Fresh Take On Scandinavian Style
By Lotta Jansdotter

I just recently have been reading this book, It's a guide on style and design life style by a Scandinavian woman named Lotta Jansdotter living in Brooklyn, NYC.  Today I picked a small section out of the book I really enjoy. Its one of the sections on decorating the home or studio, it really applies to any space though.

As a designer, she appeals to me because she really puts a focus on simplicity. This section of the book is focused on decorating with plant and flower life. She uses simple clear clean cut looking vases, bowls, cups, etc. to adorn with unique looking flowers that really awaken a space.

Overall I think that she has some cute examples of simple plant life to decorate your home with. My personal advice on these kinds of DIY decorations, are going to thrift stores and picking up little tea cups or clear glass cups and unique looking bowls. Also even if your looking for something easy to get your hands on if you don't have time to go look thru secondhand stores, marshals and target also usually have cute mason jars and cookie jars that could be used for the same project.

Here are some examples from my home

MAILBU SEPT 28 2015

Our weekend spent on the coast

We spent the weekend experiencing some fitness + fun. We started by dropping some work related things off at the store Wasteland in the shopping streets off of the Santa Monica Pier. That area is a hot spot for tourism and shopping, it's a cute spot for wandering and shop exploring date.

Outfit from the day

 SKINGRAFT // Leather Trim Shirt Dress - BLK / XS / $295
AMERICAN APPAREL // Sheer luxe hold-up - BLK / XS / $25

After Santa Monica, We left to head up North. Malibu was beautiful, I never wanted to leave.

We explored a rocky beach, unfortunately we went so late in the afternoon the tide was creeping up onto the shore and it was getting dark so we had to quickly rush back from our mini adventure down the coast.

We got to see some great views, kisses on cliffs, get some exercise in as well. After the beach walk we went up a grassy field and climbed up to the top of Point Dume. I love this spot along the Malibu coast line because in the wintertime the fields are covered with beautiful yellow flowers. Unfortunately it's still fall so its just fields right now.

On the plus side when you get to the top of the hill its a beautiful view of the coast, photographers line up to photograph images of the lights along the seaside. Watching the sunset was so enchanting, next time absolutely bringing a picnic blanket to enjoy the sunset and sea breeze and romantic vibes.

POSTCARD PROJECT SEPT 01, 2015

I recently got this water color post card sketch book as a present from my mother! I've been super into making them, some of you that follow my social media have probably seen me post little illustrations I've done with them.

Here are some examples of the drawings that I've done so far! Each of them is being sent out as a little hello greeting card for my friends and family! I love that is such a easy and organized way to craft a little 'I'm thinking of you or miss you' handmade greeting.

This is the sketchbook it's just a simple sketchbook for postcards and it's super inexpensive, around three dollars! You can purchase them on the blick website on the link directly above. The paper is made for water coloring and mailing so its thick and doesn't wear from pen markings.

Holiday themed drawings are simple! This drawing was mostly just line work. If you aren't confident in your drawing / creativity skills just simply google examples of christmas, halloween etc. to find ideas for doodling or ways to do simple drawings. Either way if you make a masterpiece or not the craft of the actual postcard is professionally made ( so it will look neat ) and something personal even little stick figures will make your card make someone feel special!

That specific spooky pumpkin themed postcard I made for my sister and her husband on the east coast as a fall / halloween theme greeting card. The back of the drawing is a postcard so you can write a simple note like me.
(●´∧`●) Opps my handwriting is sloppy.

You can add a thoughtful letter or even another drawing to this space.

The notepad is super small ( the size of a postcard ) , so it's really easy to travel with! I did this for my friend Juliana while waiting a few hours while I got a car check up and oil change. I was there foreverrrrrrrrr, so I came prepared with a book, pen, and the notepad. I actually brought the book to read but I did end up using it as something stable to draw from my lap in the waiting lounge. If you have doctor appointments, going to the dmv, car check up, or anything else really where you need to burn some time this is a great idea, you get something done that makes time go by quick as well as have a little gift for someone!

This is the post card with the blue lady drawing above and the little letter to my friend Juilana on the back. She also sent me a post card too, its a cute way to keep in touch with my friend since she's over in NYC.

This one I made for a boy that I like.  Yes I am that cliche girl that makes little love notes and drawings but I don't mind because he thought it was super cute. Goal accomplished! Were both dorks that like anime, well actually we are obsessed with anime so I did a little anime theme girl card for him! You could do something like this with someone you love or are crushing on, maybe have a cute inside joke, or save it for when you are apart from your other half for work or family stuff and remind them you are missing them!

I hope this was helpful and if you enjoyed it please let show your friends!

Today I'm gonna show you some lipstick brands I like! I'll be covering three shades of pink lipsticks and one shade of red.

The brands I choose are Being True - Pure Lip Color, YVES Saint Laurent - Rouge Volupte,  MAC Retro Matte, and Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense.

Cute and simple

This bubblegum pink lipstick is such a fun color, its gives cute barbie doll like feel. The texture of the lipstick is very fluid, which makes it easy to remove. The color makes it easy to wear with heavy eye make up, if you're someone who wears colored eyeshadow or winger eyeliner this is a great color that wont clash with the rest of your make up.

It is a very shiny lipstick though, and as I said before it's really easy to remove which means reapplying more often as well as worrying about smudges. The light color really is what I like about it though and obviously the pretty gold packaging.

Natural and Classy

This lipstick is great, it's creamy and has a really soft color to it. I would use this color for a more natural look then any of my other lipsticks. It's that color you want to use when you are trying for any of these three looks : classy, reserved, or natural.

I really love how the color make your lips look more hydrated and plump. The texture is cream like but it goes on strong with good pigmentation. The color is so light that smudging usually isn't an issue but if so because the color is so soft it is easily fixed without disrupting the rest of the make up on your face.

Although I don't really wear a lot of heavy make up too often this lipstick is another I would choose for wearing with colored or bold eye make up. It also looks really great with muted natural themed make up!

                                           Bold and Bright

This color is exciting and different. I love love Matte lipsticks so obviously I'm a fan. It is a super eye catching playful look. The lipstick has surprising long wear but if you plan on wearing it 8+ hours I would bring some kind of gloss with you because since its matte wearing it for too long will dry out, applying a small drop of gloss will prevent this.

This shade is something you can rock with or without heavy eye make up.

Classic and Adorable

This is my favorite lipstick of all time. It's a classic looking red matte lipstick I've been using it for a few years. It gives that Marilyn classic beauty volume and color. It has long wear and same gloss rule applies as for the MAC matte lipstick. This color is great for formal or casual, sexy or sweet. I only have this one red color because I don't use any others, i've tried a bunch of brands but this is definitely the best. I would highly suggest in investing in A corresponding color of Make Up Forever lipliner if you are using this lipstick. The lipstick is very rigid and thick so having lipliner to apply it with gets those perfect lines and neat finished look. This lipstick is super easy to ombre as well with other colors it blends easily. Although I will warn against the fact that it does smudge very easily so if you decide to wear it out for a long period of time would bring a compact mirror, extra foundation, as well as the lipstick and gloss to keep up it's appearance.

Anyways those are some colors and brands I use so hopefully if you're interested in some of them you have example of what the color will look like when used. The titles with names and prices under each picture above also are links to the sites where you can purchase them.
